Jonathan Speranza seemed to think he was beat, but suddenly announced he was all-in, with what happened to be the best hand. |
The action leading up to the turn has not yet been verified, but on a board of K♥ 8♥ 3♠ 6♦, Maurice Hawkins and Jonathan Speranza were jousting for a pot already over 250,000. Speranza had checked the turn, with Maurice putting out a bet of 75,000, which left Jonathan talking to himself. "He either has aces, ace-king, or nothing," Speranza spoke aloud, with his head in his hand. "Alright...I'm all-in," he then said, which drew a confused reaction from Hawkins.
Jonathan's all-in was for most of Maurice's stack, but after a few moments of though, Hawkins announced a call. He quickly turned over 7♠ 8♦, and watched as Speranza rolled over K♠ 10♥. Maurice needed help on the river, which wouldn't arrive, and he'd be left with just 60,000.
Jonathan Speranza - 575,000 (57bb)
Maurice Hawkins - 60,000 (6bb)
