Friday, March 23rd: $1,500 NLH Championship Continues With Flight 1B, With Final Satellite In The Evening

ICMYI: Event #14 ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em Championship $500,000 GTD) started yesterday afternoon, with a large group of players trying to earn themselves a couple of days off.  The field was a mixture of satellite winners (Matthew Yorra, Izzy Patel, Jeff Kessler, and Nancy Thomas), tournament regulars (Kenneth Bruno, Donald Williams, Rodney Moret-Rojas, and Frank Scala), and those we don't see very often (Victor Figueroa, Jake Schwartz, Matt Smith, Joshua Hillock, Keith Nassetta).  After eight levels of open registration, the field would close with (80) total entries, of which (27) players would reach the bagging process.  Scott Levitt (Delray Beach, FL) had a roller coaster day, as he grabbed the early chip lead...dropped down below chip average in the middle of the day...and reclaimed the overall lead on one of the final hands of play.  Levitt ended up bagging 199,100, which helped him earn the chip lead bonus (and Event #18 seat), along with TJ Shulman (155,100).  An official list of Flight 1A chip counts can be found by clicking here.

The second to last satellite for Event #14 ran last night (6:00pm), with an (8) seat guarantee on the tournament.  The numbers were very strong for the event, as registration closed with (114) entries.  That meant that (11) seats would be awarded, with a twelfth place spot earning a cash prize.  Listed below, are the official results from the $175 No Limit Hold'em Satellite:
  1. Evan Kahan (Event #14 Seat)
  2. Feguener Gay (Event #14 Seat)
  3. Robert Chusid (Event #14 Seat)
  4. Tercy Shadrach (Event #14 Seat)
  5. Ariel Williams (Event #14 Seat)
  6. Lawrence Paden (Event #14 Seat)
  7. Bret Grebow (Event #14 Seat)
  8. Jonathan Ounjian (Event #14 Seat)
  9. Tuan Phan (Event #14 Seat)
  10. Scott Bailey (Event #14 Seat)
  11. Diane Linke (Event #14 Seat)
  12. Antonio Campbell ($600 Cash)
Tournaments: Event #14 continues this afternoon, with Flight 1B beginning at 12:00pm.  Players in the flight will be sitting down to starting stacks of 30,000 units.  Play for the three opening flights will have levels of (50) minutes, transitioning to (60) minutes on Day 2.  The day is scheduled to end after Level 10, with registration not only open throughout the flight, but into Day 2 play.  The registration window for Event #14 will close after Level 12, which is just over an hour into the start of Day 2.  Live coverage of the Championship Event will begin when the first card is pitched, and will continue through the bagging process.

The final Event #14 satellite sits in the 6:00pm time slot, as players can try to parlay a $175 buy-in, into a championship seat.  The satellite guarantees (8) seats, but after what we saw last night, it should be no surprise if more than the posted number are awarded.  The event is structured with starting stacks of 12,00 units, and levels that last (20) minutes (with registration open through Level 8, and the break that follows).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
