FSPC Event #9 (Flight 1D): When Players Are Bypassing Cash, You Know It's A Solid Event

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Flight 1D Entries: 38

Casey Kaplan (Sunrise, FL) is very particular about what tournaments he plays these days, but wasn't going to allow this weekend to pass, without putting at least one entry into Event #9.

During the 2016 SHRPO, there was a $570 No Limit Hold'em event that attracted 2,923 entries, and had an official prize pool of $1,461,500.  Casey Kaplan (Sunrise, FL) would end up one of four players to chop the event, earning himself $134,700, which was his largest tournament cash by far.  The result was followed up by (22) more cashes over the next two years, but Kaplan's tournament volume went down as the time passed.  His focus was more on the cash games, with the balance tipped so far in that direction, that he's only recorded one result this year (during the WSOP Circuit at Coconut Creek).

Now while cash comes first for Kaplan, that doesn't mean he's going to allow an event like this to pass, without firing at least one shot at bagging.  Kaplan is one of the "early birds" in the field, joining the likes of:

Thomas Gari
Gil Aboodi
Bruce Snell
Dylan Drazen
Matthew Lambrecht
Sheldon Gross
Stephen Krackomberger

The field will be heading on their first break at the end of this level, returning to Level 4, and new blinds of 200/300/300.
