Isle Poker Classic Event #7 (Day 2): Malcomson Doubles Through Michael Newman To Stay Alive

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 14 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/3,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 53

With a better than 16th place finish in this tournament, Dylan Malcomson (Smithtown, NY) will eclipse his lifetime earnings with this cash alone.

Dylan Malcomson (Smithtown, NY) came into Day 2 with a stack of 132,500, putting him in the upper third of returning players.  The first hour of the day was not so kind to Dylan, as he watched his stack dip down to 32,500, all of which was at risk moments ago.  Michael Newman had called the shove from Malcomson, putting Dylan at risk, with the two players flipped:

Malcomson: 7♠ 7
Newman: A♠ Q

K♣ J♠ 9♣ 7♣ 4♣

Even though Newman didn't flop a pair, he did gain extra outs against Dylan's pair of sevens.  Those outs diminished greatly once Dylan turned a set, helping him win the hand after the river completed the board.  With four clubs out there, Newman peaked over to see if he held a club, but it was the ace of spades, and he'd ship 32,500 the way of Malcomson.

Michael Newman - 170,000 (56bb)
Dylan Malcomson - 68,000 (22bb)
