Isle Open Event 1 (Flight 1E): Faces In The Crowd (Part II)

2017 Isle Open | Event #1
$175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD
Level 6 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 108

David Rivera (pictured yesterday) is looking to put his Flight 1C experience behind him, and bag chips for
Sunday's Day 2.

As we made a few laps around the field, one of the players spotted was David Rivera (Davie, FL), who is surprisingly on his second attempt to bag chips.  After the final break of the day during Flight 1C, Rivera returned to play as the chip leader, with over 160,000 in front of him (and only four levels left to play).  One would think that his worst case scenario would be bagging a lesser stack for Sunday, but exiting the field prior to the flight's conclusion...that would surprise many.  That is exactly what makes tournament poker so difficult (and just poker in general), as you can be cruising through the day, and suddenly run into unavoidable spots.  Rivera ended up running pocket kings into aces, flopping top two when his opponents flopped sets...just all of the ingredients for the recipe for disaster.

There is also a beauty to tournament poker though, as David is able to put those hands behind him, and return today with a fresh slate.  While he pictured things otherwise, Rivera ends up featured in our second installment of "faces in the crowd," for this Flight 1C field:
