Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1C): Zakheim Not Letting The Event #3 Bubble Keep Him From Trucking On, As He Looks For Two Straight Day 2's

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 300/500/500)
Total Flight 1C Entries: 38

Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL) was likely over the "bubble" of Event #3 quickly , considering it was a $100 buy-in event...but it's still something that no poker player actually enjoys.

Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL) has played in hundreds...likely thousands of poker tournaments.  Now that helps players cope with the highs and lows of tournament poker (variance), but nothing stings worse than stone bubbling a tournament.  We happened to be standing behind Zakheim this past Monday, which was Day 2 of Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD).  During hand-for-hand play, Zakheim would go all-in with a sub-ten big blind stack, and got help from a player that iso-raised to get things heads up.  When the cards were tabled, Zakheim was in better shape than he ever could have expected, holding Ax 10x against Ax 9x.  Unfortunately for Scott, his opponent would flop and turn a nine, leaving him drawing dead heading to the river.  It looked as if Scott was going to walk away the bubble boy, but two other players were knocked out on the very same hand.  Zakhiem ended up getting a third of the first two spots to receive money, equaling a payout of $117.

Scott's back at it this afternoon, looking to better than result from earlier in the week.  He headlines the first look at notables in the field, joining names like:

Matthew Bretzfield
Zaki Lichaa
Ido Ashkenazi
Thomas Gari
