FSPC Main Event (Flight 1B): Certain Things You Never Forget

2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 20 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em ($500,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 125

Jonathan Borenstein (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

I have been covering poker in some capacity since 2004, but the first time I every worked an entire series was in 2011, when Parx Casino ran their first every major series.  The "Parx Open Classic" opened with a $300 No Limit Hold'em event, which attracted (479) entries, and a $139,389 prize pool.  Finishing sixth place in that event was a 21-year old Jonathan Borenstein, who collected $6,670...his first ever recorded score on Hendon Mob.

Fast-forward now six years, Borenstein is coming off of a WPT 500 Main Event win during the Aria Poker Classic, worth $230,000.  It stands as Jon's largest live tournament score, and helps bring his total earnings just under $1,000,000.  What's most impressive about all of the numbers, is the fact that Borenstein didn't record a score from that date in 2011, until July of 2014.  So he's managed to reach close to $1,000,000 in earnings, in just three years.

Jon is one of the most recent entries into the field, joining other big names like Philip Hui and Hanz Winzeler.
