Diane Linke (Delray Beach, FL) is right at home with a chip stack that sits in the upper tier of the leaderboard. |
One of the things we've learned from covering poker tournaments, is that no matter where a player starts on Day 2, the opportunity is there for everyone to potentially win. It's actual rare that you'll see players in the top five coming into the day, eventually reach the final table. The tournament's winner doesn't have to be a professional poker player either...we've seen numerous recreational players best fields full of quality players.
When Diane Linke (Delray Beach, FL) won Event #7 of the 2017 Florida State Poker Championships, many wondered if it was just a good Day 2 run that got her there. As the late and great Notorious B.I.G. once said, "and if you don't know...well now you know." Linke is no one-hit wonder, with six of her last ten cashes resulting in final table finishes. Diane is a great example of a player that doesn't play poker for a living, but excels at the tables when her work schedule allows it. Linke started the day with 223,500, and has since increased her stack over the first level of the day.
Diane headlines the "ones to watch" list for Event #1, which includes other names like:
Ian Cohen (259,500 Day 2 starting stack)
Avery Bass (218,000 Day 2 starting stack)
Scott Hecker (161,500 Day 2 starting stack)
Carlos Loving (134,500 Day 2 starting stack)
