BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): River Keeps Borenstein Around, Close To Starting Stack

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #14 | $1,500 NLH Championship ($500,000 GTD)

Level 6 (Blinds 250/500/75) | Structure
Total Flight 1C Entries: 153

Jonathan Borenstein (Teaneck, NJ) had success in that same WPT Borgata Poker Open we mentioned earlier with Marshall White.  Jonathan finished second in the $350 NLH Almighty Stack event, earning himself $138,000.

Jonathan Borenstein (Teaneck, NJ) has had problems finding any traction since he entered the field a few levels ago, but just hit the reset button (after doubling back up to the starting stack).  The table was approached as Borenstein was heads-up on a Q♣ J 5 flop, with his opponent firing out a bet of 3,000.  Jonathan collected his remaining chips (11,600), and pushed them across his cards, which got a very quick call from his opponent.

Player X: K♣ Q
Borenstein: K 6

Turn: 7♠
River: 2

Borenstein was drawing just to hearts, as any outs to a king were nullified by the hand he was up against.  A black card on the turn would leave Jonathan one street away from re-entering, but the 2 on the river sealed the win.  Borenstein is now just below the 30,000 starting stack, which is a more than manageable sixty big blinds.
