Isle Poker Classic Event #1 (Day 2): David Poces Recovers From Earlier Bad Beat, Eliminates Thomas Gari Short Of The Money

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #1)
$200 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack"
$100,000 GTD
Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/10,000)
Total Event #1 Entries: 1,007
Event #1 Players Remaining: 98

David Poces (Boca Raton, FL) was able to put the rough beat from earlier behind him, and now has hit sights set on a deep Event #1 run.

After losing to Christopher Lawson earlier in the afternoon (with set over set, and Lawson turning quads), David Poces was visibly frustrated.  A lot of times in tournament poker, that frustration turns into "tilt," and stacks end up disappearing.  That wasn't the case for Poces though, as he was able to rebuild, and now finds himself in the top fifteen on the leaderboard.

Just moments ago, Poces had those pocket queens once again, and had called a shove from Thomas Gari (150,000).  Luckily for David, he was dominating Gari's hand, as Thomas held Q J.  The board would run out 5♠ 4 6♣ 5 Q♠, and Poces would eliminate Gari from the field, just a few spots short of the money.  Poces now has 620,000, which is almost double the stack he started the day with (348,000).

The field is now a handful of eliminations from the money, with hand-for-hand play beginning, once the tournament clock shows (94) players remaining.
