Isle Poker Classic Event #1 (Day 2): With Bags Already Packed, Christopher Lawson Hits Miracle To Almost Triple Up

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #1)

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/8,000)

Event #1 Players Remaining: 118

Christopher Lawson (Livingston, TX) figured to be halfway home by this point, but hit a miracle one-outer on the turn, to survive his all-in against David Poces.

Passing by Table 6, there was a very big hand unfolding, with three players on a Q 7 5♠ flop.  After Dennis Cyr opened pre-flop to 15,000, both Christopher Lawson and David Poces called.  On the flop listed above, Poces checked, with Cry continuing for 25,000.  Lawson made the call, and after action was back in Poces, he'd check-raise to 80,000.  Cyr just flatted, but watched as Lawson went all-in for just under 115,000.  The amount of the all-in re-opened the action for Poces, who also shoved, but for a much larger amount (330,000).

That is when the table was approached, with Denis Cyr deep in the tank, thinking about calling two all-ins (having both players covered).  Eventually, Cyr announced a fold, and tossed A A into the muck (face up). Both players then tabled their hands:

Poces: Q♠ Q♣
Lawson: 7♣ 7♠

Turn: 7
River: K

Lawson had already stood from the table (after seeing his set under set situation), but got a shot of life on the turn, making quads to take the lead.  While there was a paint card on the river, it wasn't the final queen that Poces was looking for.

Christopher Lawson - 370,000 (46bb)
