Isle Open Event 15 (Day 2): Ashkenazi Wins Almost (200+) Big Blind Pot

2017 Isle Open | Event #15
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em | $150,000 GTD
Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Event 15 Entries: 180
Players Remaining: 37

Ido Ashkenazi (Queens, NY) had to shed his signature sunglasses after Qasim Jamhour shoved the flop, perplexed with how he could be beat in that spot.

It didn't take too long for the pot of the day to play out, as Qasim Jamhour and Ido Ashkenazi just got involved in a pot worth close to 300,000.  In a raised pot, the two players would see a J♣ 10♠ 6 flop, with Ashkenazi checking the action over to Jamhour.  Now Jamhour had turned his 24,600 Day 2 starting stack into over 100,000, and he'd continue with a bet of 8,200.

Ido then chose to check-raise to 21,500, but would be visibly shocked when Qasim announced that he was all-in, for close to eighty percent of Ashkenazi's stack.  After taking his glasses off and standing up, Ido talked out the hand to himself, and eventually sat down to make the call.  He'd watch Qasim turn over Q 9, and would follow by tabling his J 10.  Ido's top two pair would need to do some fading to win this massive pot, but when the turn and river brought running aces, he'd clench his fist in celebration.

Jamhour waited to make sure that Ido had him covered...which he did...and Qasim started to make the long walk out of the tournament area.  Ido is now the tournament's chip leader, sitting with just over 320,000.

Ido Ashkenazi - 280,000 (140bb)
