CPPT Event #1 (Day 2): And The Wheels Are Off At Table 3, As Albertson Leaves Michael Newman With Scraps

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,ooo)
Total Event #1 Entries: 759
Event #1 Players Remaining: 24

David Albertson (Coral Springs, FL) didn't mind the verbal abuse after beating Michael Newman out of a pot, as he chipped up to 1,200,000.

We weren't able to catch the full action, but approaching Table 3, Michael Newman would be sending 400,000 chips the way of David Alberston.  The board read 5 7♠ 9♣ 4 8, with both of the players hands exposed on the table.  Albertson held 6♠ 8♣, having flopped the straight, against Newman's 5♣ 5 (having flopped middle set).  The lost pot would see Newman dip down to 180,000 (just over ten big blinds), while Albertson eclipsed the million-chip mark (1,200,000).

"Put that on the blog...he limped from early position with six-eight off," Newman said in frustration, as the table confirmed that it was a six-way limped pot.  Marc Duquette then reminded Newman that he limped next to act with those pocket fives, which set Michael off.  "All the pros in this $360, they all come out to play."

David Albertson - 1,200,000 (75bb)
Michael Newman - 180,000 (11bb)
