CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1B): Fritz Stoner Scores A Double Knockout, Climbs The Leaderabord

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 93

Fritz Stoner (Lancaster, PA) has been cashing in tournaments since 2003, but all of those came in the Atlantic City/Pennsylvania area.  He's looking for his first Florida cash in this event, and seems to be off to a solid start.

At Table 5, action would fold around to Derek Williams, who open-shoved for 7,400.  Engelberth Valera was next to act, and act peering down at his hand (and cutting out his chips), he'd too shove all-in (for 9,200).  Two players folded behind, leaving Fritz Stoner (Lancaster, PA) to act, and he would also push his stack across his cards...have both players well covered (22,000).  The big blind folded her hand, and the three hands were tabled:

Stoner: 8♣ 8
Williams: A 7♠
Valera: K♣ Q

Runout: Q♠ 10♠ 8 10 J

Fritz flopped a set to grab a commanding lead in the hand, and while the turn did bring Valera outs to win the hand, Stoner was able to fade the river.  Both Williams and Valera would exit the table, while Stoner chipped up to 42,000.  Fritz is a well known player from the Northeast, with over $180,000 in lifetime tournament earnings.  His career highlighting cash came back in 2006, when he won a $750 No Limit Hold'em event during the Borgata Poker Open ($112,448).

Fritz Stoner - 42,000 (70bb)
