FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Brett Bader Hits Three-Outer To Triple On the Bubble

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 45

Brett Bader knew he was lucky to win his all-in pot, but didn't realize until afterwards, that it took a three -outer to stay alive in Event #9.

With (46) players remaining, Brett Bader would open the action at Table 1, by shoving all-in for 82,500.  Matthew Smith was next to act, and he would re-shove for 106,000, eliciting a fold from the player on his direct left.  The next player to act (who is unknown) then shoved for less (89,000), with the player on the button capping his cards, and going in the tank.  He had the three players all covered, and with a potential call, could potentially score a triple elimination (which would bring the field into the money).  He would eventually fold his cards, as would the blinds, with the all-in players tabling their hands:

Bader: A K
Smith: Q♠ Q
A. Nonymous: A♣ Q♣

Runout: J♣ 5♣ 5 8 A♠

The flop would bring extra outs for one of Matt's opponents, who just need a club to take the lead in the pot.  The turn was clean for Smith, but the A♠ on the river would give the pot do Bader, who would score a triple-up.  The player that had tanked on the button claimed to have folded Ax Kx, meaning Brett hit a one-outer to stay alive in the event.

Brett Bader - 270,000
Matt Smith - 20,000
A. Nonymous - 13,000

The Event #9 field is now just two eliminations from the money.
