FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Phil Hui On A Heater, Eliminates Leger And Zakheim

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/10,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 28

Phil Hui (San Antonio, TX) just won one of the largest pots of Day 2, coming from behind to eliminate both Scott Zakheim and Richard Leger.

Phil Hui was one of the (14) players to buy in this afternoon (as mentioned), and was able to build his stack to a comfortable 300,000.  After battling in two straight hands with Richard Leger (with Phil getting the best of him both times), Phil would find himself in a huge spot.

Leger opened the action by shoving for 84,000, with Hui just flatting the amount.  After asking for an exact amount, Joe Boulais would release his hand, with Scott Zakheim announcing himself all-in (from the small blind).  Zakheim's shove was for 196,000, with Hui taking some time to think about his next decision.  "Don't worry, I'm not calling the clock," Zakheim said to Hui, joking about the situation he had to deal with earlier.  Phil would cut out the chips for a call, and push them forward:

Zakheim: K K♣
Hui: J♣ J
Leger: A 6♣

Runout: Q J♠ 10 2♣ 5

Phil would flop a set to take the lead, but needed to fade the turn and river, as Zakheim flopped an open-ended draw.  Both streets came out clean for Hui, who would chip up to 820,000 with the pot, putting him amongst the top five stacks in the remaining field.

Phil Hui - 820,000 (82bb)
